The venue was the Woolston pool, Warrington. The hosts were the Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club. The event was held over two days, Saturday 5th. And Sunday 6th. Sam Dugdale, Steven Frith, Freddie Hewitt and Thomas Eccles made up the squad. The boys had their work cut out for them, as the event entries were high and the competition tough. The 10 years age group was represented by Sam and Steven. Sam, although not having attended many galas, showed why he will be competing more often in the future. He gained personal best times in four out of five races entered, bettering his own 100m freestyle time by six seconds. This performance gained him speeding tickets in the 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley, for swimming too fast for his age group. A bronze medal for the 100m freestyle and a medal for the 50m butterfly. Steven had a very busy weekend swimming in nine events and securing awards in eight of them. A speeding ticket for the 100m individual medley. Gold medals for the 100m freestyle and breaststroke. Silver medal in the 50m breaststroke. Bronze medals for the 50m and 100m backstroke and medals for the 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle. Four PBs rounded off a solid performance. Freddie competed in the 11 years age group and took home four awards. A bronze in the 50m backstroke and medals in the 50m butterfly and breaststroke and 100m individual medley. He also gained 2 PBs. Thomas the oldest of the squad took on the 15 years age group. Despite some very strong opposition he still won bronze in the 50m freestyle and medals for the 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke with 2 PBs.
